Call for Trainees

We are pleased to announce you the European COST training school on Text Quality Assessment to be held in Z├╝rich, Switzerland from 10 to 12 April 2019.
The main objective is to bring together a group of international PhD students & Post-doc researchers and introduce them to the ways in which multiple perspectives interact in the research of and practice of Quantitative Methods in Text Quality Assessment. By bringing together experts and junior researchers, we hope to support and further stimulate research in the domain of Literacy and Text Quality Assessment. The ELN COST Action offers a grant for 6 trainees (young researchers). A competitive selection will be in place.

Aims

It is our intention to gather a small group of about 25 junior researchers in the domain of quantitative text quality research. The main objectives of this TS include the following:
  • The trainees gain insight in corpus-based methods for assessing text quality.
  • The trainees apply rating procedures for assessing text quality especially in dealing with multilingual and L2 settings.
  • The trainees reflect the contribution of the two methods to a differentiated assessment of literacy skills and discuss pedagogical implications for the promotion of literacy.
  • The trainees carry out corpus and statistical analyses for assessing text quality and reflect on challenges when dealing with multilingual data and data from L2 learners.
